Meredith Haga Foundation Helps Living Donors

Over 108,000 people are waiting for an organ donation of a Kidney or Liver to live.

Each day 17 people die waiting for an organ transplant while another person is added to the list every 9 minutes.

Living Organ Donation can help eliminate the wait and improve life long outcomes.

The recipient's insurance/Medicare will pay for the initial testing and the surgery and hospital charges for the donor. All other incurred expenses, including but not limited to Transportation, Medication, Follow-up visits, Caregiver cost, and unexpected medical expenses are the responsibility of the Living Donor.

Post-transplant, the Living Organ Donor may be required to take off work for two to four weeks...meaning in most cases the donor is not earning a salary.

Unless the donor has savings, they will have a challenging time meeting those basic monthly expenses during the recovery

This is where the Meredith Haga Foundation helps Living Donors. Decisions are made quickly and without a lot of red tape.
